What is Campanda?

Campanda is the largest peer-to-peer RV rental marketplace in the world with over 26,000 RVs for rent in 42 countries. We connect RV enthusiasts with everyday RV owners looking to earn money by renting out their vehicles. If it helps, you can think of us as the “Airbnb of RVs.”


How much does it cost to list my RV with Campanda?
Nothing! (Really — Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada.)


How do I get paid?
Once you approve a booking, we handle the payments through a secure processor. The money will be deposited directly into your bank account when the RV rental period begins. Note that payment processing can take 2 – 5 business days, depending on your bank.


Does Campanda take a commission?
Yes. We retain a flat 20% commission of the total rental when a booking takes place. For example, if you set your daily rate at $100 and have a 5-night booking, Campanda retains $100 and you earn $400. It's important to keep this in mind when choosing your daily rate.

How does the security deposit work?
The renter is required to pay a security deposit to the RV owner before the rental period begins. This deposit is intended to cover minor damages, as well as mileage and generator overages incurred while the vehicle is in use by the renter.

The security deposit will also used to cover the insurance deductible in the rare event of a claim, ensuring that RV owners are never out of pocket. You can set your security deposit amount — $1,000 or $1,500 in your owner account settings.

Once the vehicle is returned, you must assess the vehicle condition and, if there are any damages or overages, the amount payable by the renter. The remainder of the security deposit must then be returned to the renter.

Important: It is the RV owner's responsibility to:

1. Complete the handover document provided while completing a walkthrough with the renter to establish the general condition of the vehicle. Make a note of any pre-existing damage (such as scratches, dents, rust, or general wear and tear).
It’s a good idea to take photos too.

2. Collect the security deposit from the renter prior to the start of the rental period.

3. Return the security deposit — either the full amount or minus the cost of damages — upon return of the vehicle.


What is Campanda insurance?
Through our partner Allianz, we offer a comprehensive policy that covers both your RV and your renters. The cost is covered by a daily fee paid by the renter, so owners never pay a thing.

What if I want to use my own insurance?
We also support RV owners who prefer to use their own insurance plans or who wish to require that renters secure their own insurance. Be sure to check your policy carefully — most plans do not cover commercial rentals.

What happens if my RV breaks down or needs roadside assistance?
Not a problem. We’re the only RV rental company that guarantees 24/7 roadside assistance on every single rental — all at zero cost to our owners. With Campanda, you can rest assured that your RV will never drive off without being fully covered by the best roadside assistance program in the industry.

Our partner, Nation Safe Drivers, has been a premier provider of 24-hour towing and roadside assistance for over 50 years (in other words, they really know their stuff).

Your RV and renters will be covered by 24/7 emergency towing, fuel and supply delivery, sewage assistance, tire service, battery service and lockout service. And yes, it really is free.


Can I decide who rents my RV?
Absolutely. You approve all booking requests and can communicate with any potential renters beforehand to make sure they’re a good fit for you and your RV.


Can I decide when I rent my vehicle?
Yes. You can use our availability calendar to select the dates that you would like to make your RV available to renters.  Rent your vehicle out has often or as occasionally as you like.


Can I still use my RV?
Of course! You can use our availability calendar to block off the dates that you think you might want to enjoy your RV yourself.


Can I set a minimum duration for the rental?
Yes you can. You can also adjust the minimum durations on a seasonal basis. For example, you can set a minimum rental period of 7 days during the busy summer months and set it to 3 days during the rest of the year. Your call.


What type of vehicles can be rented out on Campanda?
If it’s road-worthy and you can sleep in it, you can rent it on Campanda! This includes class A, B or C vehicles as well as travel trailers, fifth wheels, pop-ups, off-road trailers and truck campers.


Do I need experience managing a website or business?
Not at all. All you need is Internet access and an email address and Campanda will take care of the rest. We will provide you with the tools to manage inquiries and bookings, chat with potential renters and update details on your RV listing.


Can I cancel my account?
If you’d like to take a break from renting your RV, we recommend pausing your listing instead. That way, the work you’ve already done on your listing (as well as any renter reviews) will be saved. When you’re ready, you can reactivate and pick up right where you left off.

But if you really want to cancel, you can do that too — but we’ll be sad to see you go! We do ask that you honor any existing bookings that you’ve already accepted.

Can I rent out my RV immediately after registering?
Once you complete your listing, one of our account specialists will take a quick look at your listing to make sure that we have all the necessary info. They’ll also help ensure that your listing is optimized to attract the attention it deserves from renters.

Then you’re all set! You can start accepting inquiries, chatting with renters and generating income.


Am I responsible for cleaning my RV?
We allow you to set a cleaning fee so that you can have your RV professionally cleaned after each rental at zero cost to yourself.  If you prefer, you can also clean your vehicle yourself and consider the cleaning fee payment for your efforts.

It’s important to ensure that the RV is clean and tidy before each rental. A clean RV is part of a positive renter experience and happy renters will leave your RV better reviews — which means more inquiries and more money in your pocket.


Do I have to provide camping equipment?
You don’t have to, but renters will always appreciate a fully equipped vehicle and we highly recommend that you offer camping accessories and equipment if you have them. You can set the rates for extras in your Campanda account.


How do I charge renters for extras like camping or cooking equipment?
You can provide a complete, all-in-one package or offer individual items on demand for an additional fee.

The following extras are particularly popular with Campanda renters: bed linens, kitchen utensils, camping furniture, dishes and cutlery, gas tanks and awnings.


Is there a mileage limit for renters?
Our standard account setup includes 100 miles per day during the rental period. Owners can choose to set an additional per-mile rate for miles driven over the 100-mile daily limit. If you want, you can also set a price for an unlimited mileage option.
