What is Campanda?
Campanda is the largest peer-to-peer RV rental marketplace in the world with over 26,000 RVs for rent in 42 countries. We connect outdoor travel enthusiasts with everyday RV owners looking to rent out their vehicle and share their love of the RV life. If it helps, you can think of us as the “Airbnb of RVs.”


Who can rent an RV?
Renters must be at least 25 years of age and provide proof of a valid driver’s license. International renters that do not carry a US driver’s license must obtain and present a valid international driver permit.


Do I need a special driver’s license to drive an RV?
Unless you’re going BIG, probably not. Most states do not require a special license for RVs under 45 feet long or towed vehicles under 10,000 pounds. However, the rules vary from state to state, so we highly recommend that you check the details for your state.

I’ve never driven an RV. Is it very different from driving a car?
That really depends on what kind of RV you plan to rent. If you’ve never driven one before, you’ll probably need to spend a few miles familiarizing yourself with the size, turning radius and breaking speed of a larger vehicle.

That being said, the enormous popularity of RVs is evidence that they’re not difficult to drive — just a little different. You can always message the RV owner before or after submitting an enquiry to ask them questions about the way their vehicle handles.


Will the RV come with instructions?

The owner will give you a walkthrough of the vehicle when you pick it up, along with driving tips and advice. Many owners also provide a manual for reference. And of course, the Campanda support team is always here to help.


Do I need to pay a deposit to rent an RV?
Yes, the RV owner will collect a deposit prior to vehicle handover. When you submit an inquiry, the RV owner will send you an offer with details on the deposit.


What will my security deposit be used for?
Your deposit will secure the vehicle for the dates that you settled upon with the RV owner. Your deposit will be used to cover any minor damages or mileage/generator overages that occur during your rental period. (Pre-existing damages should be assessed during the vehicle walkthrough at the time of pickup.)

If the owner has selected the Campanda Insurance option, your security deposit will be used in the event of an insurance claim for any damages incurred during your rental period.


Do I have to bring my own linens, dishes,etc.?
The majority of vehicles listed on Campanda come with all the comforts of home. Most RV owners are very accommodating and will work with you to ensure that you have all the bells and whistles that you need.

However, the decision whether or not to equip their vehicle is up to the RV owner, so you should check with them early in the rental process to find out what is included in the listed rental rate. Some owners will also offer things like camping gear for an additional fee.


Do I need to clean the RV before returning it?
It’s important to return the RV in the same condition that it was in at the time of pickup. Many owners will include a cleaning fee in the rental price but we always recommend that you discuss the specifics of the return with the owner before the rental begins. This will ensure that all parties have a smooth and pleasant
experience.  


What if I get a flat tire?

Inconvenient, but no biggie. We’ve got you covered with 24/7 roadside assistance (see below).

How does Road Side Assistance with Campanda work? 

Our partner, Nation Safe Drivers, has been a premier provider of 24-hour towing and roadside assistance for over 50 years with over 45,000 roadside assistance providers.  They have an excellent reputation throughout the RV industry delivering around-the-clock technical and emergency roadside assistance, dedicated to the unique needs of RV travelers throughout the U.S. and Canada.

What does it cost?

Nation Safe Drivers RV Road Side Assistance service is provided at $15.00 per day to the Renter. The daily fee is added to the Insurance Fee at booking. You can find details about coverage here.

What happens if I get into an accident?
Sometimes life doesn’t go according to plan. Our 24/7 roadside assistance program will take care of the little inconveniences like flat tires, towing, etc., but you’ll need insurance coverage in the event of an accident.

Can I really go anywhere that I want?
The standard rate is 100 travel miles per day, but RV owners can set a higher mileage limit if they choose. If you know that you will be traveling more than the specified limit, you should speak to the owner about the specifics of your trip to ensure that they are willing to accommodate the additional miles.


What happens if I need to cancel my rental?
If you need to cancel your rental for any reason, you should get in touch with the RV owner as soon as possible. You can do this by logging into your Campanda account, under the “Manage Your Bookings” section.
